MEET OUR TEAMS
The Church of the Brethren believes in the priesthood of all believers, meaning that all believers are gifted and equipped to minister in the church. Whether it is in the form of a named position or other opportunities, our goal is to find meaningful ways for everyone to participate and serve, using their God-given gifts and talents.
While we believe in the priesthood of all believers, certain people are called out for their gifts in teaching and leadership. We are grateful for the dedication, love, and service provided to us by our licensed and ordained pastors.
Interim Congregational Life Pastor
In her more than 30 years of ministry, Pastor Debbie has served in a variety of pastor, denomination, and seminary roles. In addition to Goshen City Church of the Brethren, she is a spiritual director, a Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership and Western Michigan University instructor, an end-of-life doula, and part of the pastoral team for Living Stream Church of the Brethren. Debbie enjoys writing poetry, walking, cooking, swimming, and canoeing, and lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with her husband, daughter, and cat.
Interim Worship Pastor
In addition to his role at Goshen City Church of the Brethren, Pastor Deron serves on the pastoral team at Faith Mennonite Church. He loves music, drama, and conversations about theology, spirituality, and biblical studies. He teaches private drum lessons, plays music whenever he can, and occasionally acts in community theater productions. Running, hanging out with family, banging on the drums, and reading fantasy and sci-fi novels are other ways he likes to have fun. Deron lives in Goshen, Indiana, with his wife and two daughters.
